Ontario's NDP have been fighting for paid sick leave for years. On March 1, 2021 Ford's Conservatives voted down our bill for paid sick days in the middle of an ongoing pandemic.
We aren't letting up now - because Ontarians can't afford to let this go.
Ontarians have deserved paid sick days for a long time, and now it is more urgent than ever.
Many frontline and essential workers - including some health care workers - don't have paid sick days. Missing a shift without pay means being unable to pay rent or put food on the table.
If we want to stop the spread, and help Ontarians keep their lights on, all workers need paid sick leave.
That's why Ontario's NDP tabled Bill 239. MPP Peggy Sattler's Stay Home If You Are Sick Act lays out exactly how we can ensure that any Ontarian who has fallen ill can stay home without the fear of lost wages. Ford voted it down.
