Ontario needs a real rent freeze.
That means banning AGIs until at least 12 months after COVID-19 ends.
Doug Ford promised to freeze rent increases during the pandemic, but he didn't stop Above the Guideline Increases.
Here are some facts:
- Above the Guideline Rent Increases are routinely abused by landlords.
- Above the Guideline Rent Increases in Toronto alone have increased by 250% in the last six years.
For many tenants, this means that this isn't a rent freeze at all.
Add your name to call on the Government to implement an immediate ban on above the guideline rent increases (AGIs) to protect tenants until at least 12 months after the official end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
