Dear Community,
As I mentioned in my last update, Queen's Park resumed this week with a focus on the healthcare crisis.
On Thursday, Interim Leader MPP Tabuns and our Health Critic, MPP Gelinas put forth a motion calling for an emergency debate to put our heads together to tackle this, before more emergency rooms are closed, more nurses are run off their feet and out of the sector, and more patients do not get the life-saving care they need.

Dear Community,
A new session at Queen's Park began this week but not before Ontarians joined together on the lawn with a message for Doug Ford: LISTEN UP! We’ve got a BIG job ahead of us & need a premier ready to take it on.

Dear Community,
Yesterday, bookings opened for children under-5 to be vaccinated for COVID-19. These vaccines are safe and effective, and I encourage everyone with young children to book an appointment as soon as possible. Appointments can be booked online here https://covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine/

I am deeply honoured to have been put forth by the Ontario NDP as one of our Deputy Speakers in the upcoming legislature. The Deputy Speakers preside over legislative sessions in rotation with the Speaker.
I will be the first Black woman to hold this post in Ontario. I am looking forward to serving in this role alongside my colleagues Bhutila Karpoche and Jennifer French and to making Toronto-St. Paul’s proud. https://www.ontariondp.ca/news/ndp-puts-forward-history-making-appointments-deputy-speakers

Dear Community,
Yesterday I had a blast at the Toronto Fringe Theatre festival. “The Sorauren Book Club” put on by Lisa Randall, Christina Collins, our very own Maria Syrgiannis, and many more fabulous cast and crew, is a fun watch. You can catch this show again at the Al Green Theatre at 750 Spadina Ave. on July 13, 14, or 16. See a full list of showtimes for this and other shows and buy tickets here: https://fringetoronto.com/fringe/plan-your-festival/box-office.

Dear Community,
Ontario's chief medical officer has confirmed that we are now in a 7th-wave of COVID. This is unsurprising to many of us, and frightening for everyone. We have seen these waves become less deadly, particularly to vaccinated people, but there is no guarantee that this will continue, and I urge everyone to continue precautions like masking indoors and social distancing.
