Shout Out to common-area cleaning collectives

They’re just outside our riding, but we’re sending a big #StPaulsShoutOut to Japji Anna Bas and The 29th Day for coming together to keep the common areas of their building clean and safe.

Interested in doing the same in your building? Here’s how Japji and her neighbours got started:

The first weekend the school closure was announced, before the state of emergency was declared, I made a spreadsheet of the units in my building.

I reached out by phone to the people I already knew in my building from the neighbourhood and our local coffee shop, The Sovereign. Using a spokes council approach, I drew on my existing network to get at least one person per floor. Together we are able to help check in on the elderly or potentially at risk people in our building and we support one another in getting supplies, when needed.

I’ve also been in contact with our building’s new property manager and have reached out to both Toronto Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa and Davenport MPP Marit Stiles

Please do let me know if you have any questions and take care. Kindly, Japji.
