Two vying for NDP’s Toronto-St. Paul’s nomination
Two candidates — Alok Mukherjee and Jarren Richards — are seeking the nomination to be the NDP’s candidate for Toronto-St. Paul’s in the upcoming federal election.
Registered members of the federal party’s Toronto-St. Paul’s riding association will choose their candidate during a meeting on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 3 pm to 5:30 pm in the Flora McRea Auditorium at Timothy Eaton Church, 230 St. Clair Ave. West (accessible entrance on Warren Road).
If you’re not yet a member of the federal NDP’s federal riding association, registration will be open from 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm in the church auditorium.
The election itself is scheduled to take place at 3:30 pm. The rest of the meeting will serve as the riding association’s Annual General Meeting.
VOTING AT A NOMINATION MEETING
Any member is eligible to vote at a nomination meeting upon meeting the following conditions:
The member’s ordinary place of residence is in the district and has been established as such on or before the thirtieth (30th) calendar day before the nomination meeting.
A member who maintains their membership in a district other than where they ordinarily reside, may vote only in the district where they ordinarily reside and shall vote only upon confirmation of membership.
The member has joined the NDP on or before the thirtieth (30th) calendar day before the nomination meeting.
VOTING AT AN AGM
During the second part of the meeting, elections will be held to elect the Executive of the Toronto St. Paul’s riding association.
Any member is eligible to vote at an Annual General Meeting upon meeting the following conditions:
The member is a member in good standing, ie has renewed their membership at least 30 days prior to September 8.
The member lives in the riding of Toronto St. Paul’s OR the member has a residence outside the riding but has requested and been granted the transference of their membership to Toronto St. Paul’s riding association.
