Have your say on new law that makes evictions quicker, easier

“This bill does NOT provide renters with rent relief, rent control, a rent registry, affordable housing, supportive housing, rent subsidies … NOTHING.” – Jill Andrew

From June 24-26, the Ford government is holding public hearings on Bill 184, the law being pushed through Queen’s Park that will:

  • make it easier for landlords to evict you
  • limit your ability to recover improper/illegal rental increases

Jill Andrew, our MPP, is encouraging all tenants and tenants’ associations in Toronto-St. Paul’s to sign up to make a short presentation.

“This bill does NOT provide renters with rent relief, rent control, a rent registry, affordable housing, supportive housing, rent subsidies … NOTHING,” Jill writes. “What it does is it actually makes evictions easier to secure (which, last time I checked, is bad for tenants struggling during a pandemic!)”

To schedule a presentation, contact the presiding committee at [email protected] or 416.325.3506.

If you’d like to pass on to us contact information for your tenants’ association, please email it to [email protected] – we’ll make sure they know about this opportunity to speak.
