Community News Update - November 21

Dear Community,

On Sunday evening CUPE, the union representing education support workers in Ontario's schools, reached a tentative agreement with the government on wages. As a result, schools will continue to operate normally while negotiations continue.

I am disappointed that the Ford government continues to drag out this process through their resistance to providing these educational workers with the compensation that they deserve for their irreplaceable role in our schools.

Community News Update -November 18

Dear Community,

Our health care system needs to work better for everyone, but there are some folks that have always struggled to get essential care.

On Thursday, I was I was proud to stand with my fellow MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam as a co-sponsor to their Gender Affirming Healthcare Act, which would ensure all trans, non-binary & gender-diverse Ontarians have access to the affirming, LIFE-SAVING healthcare they need & deserve.

Community News Update - November 14

Dear Community,

The House resumed today and my top priority; repealing Bill 28.

Since the day it was tabled, my position was clear. The Keeping Students in Class Act, 2022, was a vicious attack on education workers, parents, students, and ALL workers and should have never have been passed in the first place. Not only did it not keep students in class, it infringed on the human right to collectively bargain, as written in the constitution, through its use of the notwithstanding clause.
